P4 Making Paper
30th Mar 2023
P4 enjoyed making paper as part of their 'Ancient Egypt' topic. The ancient Egyptians made their paper from papyrus and scribes wrote hieroglyphics on it.
In P4 we made paper by recycling old newspaper. We had to rip it into tiny pieces and allow it to soak in a tub of warm water. We then put it into a blender to form pulp. The pulp was poured into a large tray and we dipped a frame into water to form a thin coating on top. A rolling pin was used to flatten the paper and remove some of the mositure. The paper was left overnight to dry completely. Once the paper was dry, we were able to peel it off the frame and use it to write on.
